Best time of the year is here again! Spring Festival means no school, unlimited snacks, and hanging with people I actually like. What’s not to love?

We stuck couplets on doors, my characters are still a bit wobbly but hey, it’s the thought that counts right? Mom laughed at my handwriting but put them up anyway. That’s love. ❤️

First day of the new year started with the usual red date and cloud slice cake. Red dates for sweetness and prosperity, and that fluffy white cloud cake because it sounds lucky? Honestly I just eat them because they taste good, but if they bring good fortune too I’ll take it! Been grabbing handfuls all week “for luck” obviously.

The best part, though, is simply being with everyone: the cousins, the whole wonderfully chaotic crew. Playing cards until midnight, eating far too much, laughing at the same silly family stories we’ve heard a thousand times. The usual chaos. The perfect kind.

Somewhere in between all the visiting and eating, I found myself falling into space movies. Started with Star Trek (so good!), and then my dad insisted I watch 2001: A Space Odyssey because, as he put it, “you have to see the classic.” And honestly? That movie is something else. Ancient monoliths, that quietly unsettling computer HAL, and an ending I’m still not entirely sure I understood. But there’s something strangely captivating about it. The space sequences are so beautifully quiet, so vast, and I just sat there watching, feeling incredibly small.

So my festival has been dumplings + relatives + existential space thoughts. Perfect balance honestly.

Now I’m lying here thinking… space is SO waiting for us. One day I’ll figure out how to get there. Maybe not today, maybe not tomorrow, but one day.

Till then, more dumplings. 🥟
